The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) is deepening cooperation with Luxembourg on space resource exploration, including upcoming lunar missions. At the 2025 Space Resources Week in Luxembourg, KARI Deputy Administrator John Lee met with Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy, Lex Delles, and Marc Serres, CEO of the Luxembourg Space Agency, to discuss bilateral collaboration.

Lee announced Korea’s plan to launch a lunar lander in 2032 and emphasized Korea’s interest in In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU). He participated in global panel discussions on policies and technologies for space resource development.

As part of the visit, Lee toured the European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC) and examined its startup incubation programs, highlighting Luxembourg’s model as a leader in space economy policy and innovation. KARI aims to expand industrial participation in space resource development and help usher in a new era of national space economy.

The two nations agreed to share policy directions and explore opportunities for joint participation in international space initiatives, marking a significant step toward stronger Korea–Luxembourg space ties.
