South Korean singer and actress Hyeri, best known as a former member of K-pop girl group Girl’s Day, is reportedly in a relationship with professional dancer and choreographer Woo Tae.
On Monday, Hyeri’s agency, Sublime, responded to media reports claiming the two have been dating for over a year. “As this pertains to the actor’s private life, it is difficult to confirm,” the agency stated. While not a direct confirmation, the absence of a denial has fueled speculation that the relationship is indeed ongoing.
The pair reportedly became close while working together on the 2023 film Victory, where Hyeri played the role of Pil-seon, the leader of a high school cheerleading team. Woo Tae served as the film’s lead choreographer, guiding the cheer sequences behind the scenes.
Hyeri previously made headlines for her long-term relationship with actor Ryu Jun-yeol, whom she met while filming the hit 2015 drama Reply 1988. The two went public with their relationship and dated for nearly eight years before announcing their breakup in late 2023. Shortly after news broke of Ryu’s rumored relationship with actress Han So-hee in early 2024, Hyeri drew public attention for posting a cryptic Instagram story that read simply, “Interesting.”
Woo Tae, whose real name is Chae Woo-tae, is a well-known figure in South Korea’s dance scene. He gained widespread recognition as a member of the Ambitious Crew on Mnet’s popular dance competition show Street Man Fighter in 2022, and has since worked as a choreographer and dance trainer for various artists and productions.
Since debuting in 2010 as part of Girl’s Day, Hyeri has successfully transitioned into acting, with notable roles in dramas such as Reply 1988, My Roommate Is a Gumiho, and May I Help You, as well as films including Monstrum, My Punch-Drunk Boxer, and Victory.
As of now, neither Hyeri nor Woo Tae has made a personal statement regarding the relationship.
