On July 5, 2025, K-pop girl group BLACKPINK officially marked their return as a full group by launching their world tour “DEADLINE”, signaling the end of their hiatus.
BLACKPINK consists of four members: JISOO, JENNIE, ROSÉ, and LISA. The group debuted under YG Entertainment on August 8, 2016. Just eight days after their debut, their double title tracks “BOOMBAYAH” and “WHISTLE” ranked No.1 and No.2, respectively, on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart in the United States. Subsequently, “PLAYING WITH FIRE” and “AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST” also topped the same chart. In 2018, “DDU-DU DDU-DU” reached No.1 on the iTunes Album Chart in 41 countries. A year later, in 2019, BLACKPINK became the first K-pop group to perform as a sub-headliner at Coachella. In 2023, they made history again as the first Korean act to headline the festival.
Since 2022, the group had not been promoted as a full unit, instead focusing on individual careers. JISOO remained active in South Korea, while JENNIE, ROSÉ, and LISA mainly focused on overseas activities. During this time, JENNIE released her first solo album “Ruby,” which was selected by Billboard as one of the Best Albums of 2025. ROSÉ’s collaboration with Bruno Mars, “APT,” made history by remaining on the Billboard Hot 100 for 36 consecutive weeks. LISA’s “NEW WOMAN” also entered the Billboard Hot 100, charting at No.97. JISOO topped the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart with her release “earthquake.”
The “DEADLINE” world tour kicked off in Goyang, South Korea, on July 5, 2025. The response proved that their hiatus had done nothing to lessen global excitement. Tickets sold out immediately upon release, leading to the opening of limited view seats. The tour will continue across major cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, New York, Paris, Milan, Barcelona, London, and Tokyo.
Reactions after the opening concert were even more intense, as BLACKPINK unveiled the stage performance of their upcoming single “JUMP” for the first time. The group announced that “JUMP” would officially be released on July 11. Fans had been eagerly awaiting this moment throughout the group’s long break. As their first album release since “BORN PINK” in 2022, BLACKPINK’s upcoming album set to drop after a three year gap has become one of the most highly anticipated comebacks among fans worldwide.
