Samsung Lions’ slugger Lewin Díaz reached a historic milestone by hitting his 50th home run of the season on September 30 in Daegu against the KIA Tigers, when he launched a 152 km/h fastball 123 meters over center field for a three-run shot in the first inning.

With this blast, he became the sixth player in KBO history and the very first foreign player to reach the 50-home-run mark, already having surpassed Yamaico Navarro’s foreign-player record of 48 and joining a select group that includes Lee Seung-yeop, Shim Jeong-soo, and Park Byung-ho.

Díaz also rewrote the league’s RBI record books by driving in 156 runs to break Park Byung-ho’s previous mark of 146 from 2015, and by combining such power with run production, he became the first player in KBO history to achieve both 50 home runs and 150 RBIs in a single season, underscoring his dominance throughout the year.
