Apple has officially revealed its upgraded Vision Pro headset powered by the new M5 chip, marking a major leap in processing power and AI capabilities. Compared to the previous M4 generation, the M5 delivers up to four times faster CPU performance and 45% higher graphics efficiency.

The new Vision Pro retains its premium 499-million-won ($3,499) price tag but introduces several key enhancements: a micro-OLED display with 10% more pixels, reduced latency of just 12 milliseconds, and up to three hours of extended battery life. Despite its impressive hardware, the headset’s high weight—up to 800 grams with the battery—remains a concern.

Apple also launched new MacBook Pro and iPad Pro models equipped with the M5 chip, offering up to 24 hours of battery life and the same starting prices as previous generations.

Meanwhile, Samsung is preparing to unveil its first XR headset on October 22, reportedly developed in collaboration with Google. Codenamed Project Moohan, the device is expected to feature Android-based mixed-reality technology combining VR, AR, and MR experiences.

As both tech giants enter the next phase of spatial computing, competition in the XR market is set to intensify, with Apple’s performance-driven innovation facing off against Samsung’s open-platform ecosystem.
