On Sunday, July 13, 2025, around 4 p.m., a Beech B200 Super King Air plane crashed after lifting off from London’s Southend Airport, heading to Lelystad, Netherlands. According to the British media, the flight was a medical transport jet with a medical system for transporting patients.
All flights to and from the airport have been cancelled or diverted to alternative airports until further notice while police, emergency services, and air accident investigators are attending the incident. The airport confirmed a “serious incident” with this accident, involving a general aviation aircraft.
Witness John Johnson, who was at the airport with his family, said he saw a “big fireball” after the plane crashed to the ground. According to him, after the plane took off, it started to bank to its left, and this occurred within a few seconds.
The twin-engine turboprop plane can carry around 12 people, although it has not been confirmed how many were in the plane at the time. London’s Southend Airport said that they are working closely with the local authorities and will be able to provide more information as soon as possible.
