Dayoung (27), a member of the K-pop girl group WJSN (Cosmic Girls), has launched her solo career with her first digital single album gonna love me, right?, released on September 9. WJSN, formed in 2016 under Starship Entertainment, is known for its cosmic concept and strong global following, and Dayoung’s solo debut marks a milestone in her nine-year career.

The three-track album features the title song body, alongside number one rockstar and marry me. Dayoung took part in planning, songwriting, and composition, embedding themes of “confidence” and “love” throughout. The body music video, shot largely in one take, emphasizes that “emotions and attitude reach others before words do.”

Her debut quickly drew international media attention. Forbes praised the record as a reflection of her “bright and lively mindset,” while NME described it as “a bold and confident exploration of her true self.” TMRW magazine called it both “a declaration of identity and an invitation to connect,” and FOX 13 Seattle highlighted her creativity behind the body music video. MTV channels across the U.S., U.K., Germany, Japan, and Italy also shared the release on social media.

Fans have responded enthusiastically, praising her versatility in vocals, rap, and performance. Fellow WJSN members showed support as well: Exy, who co-wrote body, called the album “a perfect match for Dayoung,” while Yeonjung admired her dedication and effort in studying English. Other idols, including Cravity members, joined the body dance challenge in celebration.

With gonna love me, right?, Dayoung has stepped into the spotlight on her own, transforming her image from a beloved WJSN member to a confident solo artist ready for the global stage.
