October 20, 2025, On the second day of the National Sports Festival, an unexpected result has drawn attention.
The 106th National Sports Festival is currently taking place in Busan. Featuring a wide range of sports such as basketball, soccer, and shooting, this event brings together both adult and youth athletes, making it one of the highlights of the first half of 2025.
This morning, a highly anticipated basketball match took place between Dongju Girls’ High School of Busan and Onyang Girls’ High School of Chungbuk. Based on individual skills, Dongju High had shown promising performance; however, few expected them to defeat Onyang High, who had already claimed three major titles this year.
In the first quarter, Dongju trailed 14–18 behind Onyang. But the second quarter marked 27 points, Dongju took the lead 41-27, shifting the momentum of the game. Although Onyang scored 15 points in the third quarter, Dongju extended their lead to a double-digit gap at 59-42. In the final quarter, Onyang continued to fight back, but overcoming a 17 point deficit proved too difficult. The game ended with a 72-61 victory for Busan Dongju Girls’ High School, earning them a meaningful first win.
Unlike other elite tournaments, the National Sports Festival is relatively short in duration, as each team represents its local region. Nevertheless, the passion for basketball remains strong, and the city of Busan is filled with excitement and enthusiasm.
