Recent Ukrainian attacks on Crimea, sparking speculation about retaking the region from Russia, have experts urging caution due to Crimea’s strategic significance.
Oleksandr Musiienko of Kyiv’s Centres for Military and Legal Studies outlines Ukraine’s strategy: securing dominance in the northwestern Black Sea and disrupting Russian logistical capabilities in the south.
Ukraine has succeeded in Crimea, striking Russian assets, damaging the Balck Sea fleet with long-range cruise missiles, and neutralizing Russian air defense systems. Special forces have played a role, using underwater methods to access Crimea’s shores and advanced technology to target Russian assets.
However, experts caution that fully liberating Crimea remains challenging. While disrupting the Kerch Bridge affects Russian logistics, a comprehensive effort is uncertain. The current focus is on reducing Russia’s presence.
For more information, South Korea sent non-lethal supplies worth 4.85 billion won to Ukraine, including combat rations, body armor, gas masks, and more. The Ministry of National Defense has clarified that lethal weapons will not be provided, maintaining Korea’s policy.
