President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung will make a special guest appearance on the popular JTBC variety program Please Take Care of My Refrigerator, also known internationally as Chef & My Fridge. The episode is scheduled to air tonight (October 6) at 10 p.m., after being postponed by one day from its original broadcast date of October 5.
In the official preview video released by JTBC on its YouTube channel earlier in the day, host Kim Sung-joo introduced President Lee and the First Lady as the “special guests of the day.” This marks President Lee’s first television appearance since taking office, and he appeared slightly nervous but cheerful, saying with a smile, “I feel quite awkward.”
When asked about his reason for joining the program, President Lee explained that he wanted to highlight the cultural significance of Korean food. “K-pop and dramas are important, but the true core of culture is food,” he said. “I believe we should promote K-food and expand its presence around the world.”
First Lady Kim Hye-kyung added, “I hope the chefs can create dishes that can invite foreigners to our dining table, showing the warmth and flavor of Korean home cooking.” Her comment prompted laughter in the studio when President Lee jokingly said, “Wow, you practiced that line a lot,” creating a light and friendly atmosphere.
In this special episode, chefs Son Jong-won, Choi Hyun-seok, and Jung Ji-sun, along with cartoonist and chef Kim Poong, will participate in a 15-minute cooking challenge using ingredients from the presidential refrigerator. Viewers can look forward to entertaining moments, such as Chef Choi’s signature seasoning performance and the couple’s humorous reaction when tasting one of Kim Poong’s unexpected dishes, saying with laughter, “Why does this taste so good?”
Please Take Care of My Refrigerator is a long-running JTBC program where celebrity guests bring their home refrigerators to the studio, and professional chefs compete to create creative dishes within a short time.
