Authorities in Los Angeles have confirmed that a body discovered in a vehicle registered to singer-songwriter d4vd (David, 20) belonged to a missing 15-year-old girl.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office announced on September 17 (local time) that the victim had last been seen in April 2023 in Lake Elsinore, Riverside County, before being reported missing. Officials stated that the remains were in an advanced state of decomposition, indicating that the body had likely been left inside the vehicle for an extended period. The exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
The discovery was made on September 8 at an impound lot after staff reported a foul odor coming from a car that had been towed there on September 5. Police officers found the body wrapped in plastic bags inside the trunk. According to reports, the vehicle had been abandoned on the street for more than 72 hours before being impounded.
Initially, investigators could not identify the owner of the vehicle. However, media outlets later reported that the car was registered to d4vd’s Tesla, drawing significant public attention. At the time, the artist was on a world tour. His representative released a short statement noting that he was “continuing his performances while cooperating with the investigation,” but no further comment was provided.
Born in 2005, d4vd has gained international recognition for his emotional and melodic style of music. His breakout singles, “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me,” have recorded over 170 million and 240 million views on YouTube, respectively.
The artist has also developed strong ties with South Korea. He held his first concert in Seoul in 2023, returned in November the following year, and appeared on Mnet’s “M Countdown” earlier this year. In June, he released “Always Love” in collaboration with Hyunjin of the K-pop group Stray Kids, further expanding his presence in the Korean music market.
