Globally, AI-generated "Ghibli-style" profile pictures are popular. ChatGPT-4o is being used by many people to create selfies that resemble Studio Ghibli animation. A brief prompt will suffice.
According to OpenAI, more than 700 million pictures were produced in a single week. CEO Sam Altman even switched to a Ghibli-style profile picture for himself. More than 400 million people use ChatGPT every week.
In March, the app received 1.44 million downloads in Korea. The monthly user count increased by over 30%. Particularly on social media, the trend is strong.
Text, images, and even voice can all be understood by ChatGPT-4o. It copies styles like Ghibli's using this information. In a matter of seconds, users can request high-quality Ghibli-style images.
However, the trend is not popular with everyone. Hayao Miyazaki, the director of Studio Ghibli, has stated that he opposes AI in art. He described it as "an insult to life" in a 2016 interview.
Some artists are also concerned about creativity and copyright. They claim that while AI can mimic fashion, it is incapable of feeling emotions or producing original works based on actual human experience.
People still adore the pictures. Significant concerns regarding the future of AI and art are brought up by the trend's growth.
