South Korea has taken negotiating with the U.S. regarding trade affairs into its consideration, referencing Japan’s agreement with the U.S trade deal, indicating possible outcomes that could improve tariffs on imported products from the nation.
Minister Koo Yoon-cheol officially expressed his positive viewpoint of the plan, stating that the outcomes of Japan’s negotiations with the U.S. were successful, and will optimistically reflect them in Korea’s situation. Meanwhile, South Korea’s foreign minister would not accept the same terms agreed to in Japan’s deal, which includes a substantial amount of money in a $550 billion package.
However, the ongoing situation is suppressing South Korea financially, especially since Donald Trump signed an executive order as to Japan’s trade deal last week, while South Korea hasn’t reached an agreement yet.
Majorities of the netizens claim that the negotiations with the U.S. should be implemented as soon as possible, emphasizing the positive aspects of those of Japan, since the Japanese deal lowered the tariffs from 25% to 15%, while South Korea still faces 25%.
Consequently, Minister Koo Yoon-cheol and the foreign minister have concluded that they will come up with new strategies to escalate the situation, which would hopefully diminish the financial problems.
